Our private brass instrument lessons are for students ages 6 to Adult. Children 5 and under may enroll in our award-winning Kindermusik program.

Do you have more questions?

How much do lessons cost?

Your first 30-minute private lesson at Potomac Music is just $35 (for first time clients). Lesson tuition after that is payable monthly for weekly recurring lessons. Monthly tuition varies by instructor. One-on-one lessons are also available in 45-minute and 60-minute sessions. Clients will be charged the adjusted rate for the extended lesson time.

For clients seeking flexible scheduling, we do offer drop-in lessons! ALL drop-in lessons are billed at $49/30 minute lesson. Lessons are also available in 45-minute and 60-minute intervals.

How do I sign up?

You can sign up for private lessons by filling out our private lesson sign up form HERE.

For Kindermusik, please view the Kindermusik page of this website for class times. The sign up form is viewable from that page.

How often do lessons occur?

Recurring lessons are scheduled once per week at the same time with that same instructor. Drop-in lessons are flexible and can be scheduled when it’s convenient for you.

How often do classes occur?

Our classes meet each week at the same/day and time.

How do I pay?

You’ll be charged at the time of booking your first lesson with us. Once you confirm your enrollment choice (recurring or drop-in lessons) we’ll set up automatic payments. You’ll have access to your client account to view and update your schedule and payment method as needed.

How do I stop?

Enrollment withdrawals can be made via email to lessons@potomacmusic.com. We require 14 days notice to unenroll.

How many children are in each group class?

Group class size varies based on class type. Kindermusik typically ranges from 4 - 8 children. Piano Express classes have a capacity of 6 students (with 2 available slots for make up lessons). Other group class have availability up to 8 students.

Where do I get music?

Potomac Music now carries popular method books and music by distributors that include Hal Leonard and Alfred Publishing. We also stock supplies from leading brands including Kun, Everest, D'Addario, DR Strings, and many more. Get all your music and accessories without making a special trip or waiting for a delivery!

Do I have to stay with my child throughout Kindermusik classes?

For Levels 1, 2, and our Saturday Mixed Ages classes, YES! A caregiver must be with their child throughout class. Caregivers also must attend playdates and Musical Storytime. Levels 3, 4, and Kindermusik Musicians are DROP OFF classes.

Where do I get an instrument?

Potomac Music offers instrument rentals for all band and orchestra instruments as well as full sized guitars for use in lessons. Please ask us to help! We can help you find exactly what you need.

What if I am not musical? Do I have to sing during Kindermusik classes?

Singing is optional and not required for caregivers or your child. No musical skills are required. Kindermusik is a "come as you are" learning environment that encourages PROCESS over performance.

How do group classes work?

Group classes are a great way to enrich your child’s learning and supplement school groups. Group classes have a set tuition rate based on the number of classes and enrollment is based on skill level. Space is limited and classes do fill quickly. We can help you find the appropriate class for your child, and we also offer programs for adults! Email us at lessons@potomacmusic.com for our recommendation!

What if we need to miss our Kindermusik or Piano Express class?

We offer unlimited make-up classes while you have an active enrollment.

Can I make up lessons?

Consistent attendance is the most important component of learning and progression. Please know that we want you to get the lessons you paid for, and offer make-up options as outlined below if you or your student are unable to attend.

Private lesson clients are granted TWO make-up lessons per 90 day period. Make-up lessons are subject to availability. Lessons must be canceled at least 4 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time through our scheduling platform to receive a service credit for a make-up lesson.

We do not offer make-up lessons for make-up lessons. Please stay home if you are sick! This includes having covid & flu symptoms, or vomiting within 24 hours before your lesson. If you are too sick to go to work or school, you are too sick to come to your lesson.
