Peter Kalavritinos
Peter’s interest in the guitar began at the age of four when he “played along” while watching Andrés Segovia videos. Peter shares his passion for all things guitar based on the in-depth knowledge and skills he has developed for nearly two decades. He holds a B.A. in music from George Mason University, with a minor in Jazz Studies. His repertoire also includes classical music, classic rock, blues, hip-hop, and more. While at GMU, he performed both in jazz combos and the classical guitar ensemble. Peter is also an active participant in the music scene in and around Washington, DC. He has worked with such artists as Natalie Brooke, Gordon Sterling, Annie Stokes, and many others in the DC music scene.
Peter was designated a Pulse Artist for Paul Reed Smith guitars class of 2020 and 2021 and has developed a detailed understanding of the functionality and construction of the guitar along the way. He strongly believes that learning the fundamentals of music—melody, harmony, and rhythm—are part of the backbone of having more creative control over one’s instrument and musical experience. His upbeat, friendly, and positive approach to teaching music make him a popular teacher for students of all ages and abilities.
